My roommate's cat is sick and we can't figure out what's wrong?
(Please refrain from answering "take him to the vet." There's already have an appointment booked and the only thing they have open is two weeks from now)
About a week or two ago my roommate's cat started showing a few symptoms of being ill (lethargic, etc.). Now he's lost a ton of weight, he's not taking care of himself (his fur is all greasy), he barely gets out of bed, and he's not eating. He's also usually one of those cats that hardly meows, now he's meowing quite a bit.
They've tried force-feeding him, and he'll get a little, but by himself it seems he's only eating the bare minimum to stay alive.
They told me they found mold in his water dish (O_O??) under the rim where they couldn't see (they've got one of those deals where you top the 2 liter bottle upside down or whatever). There's no doubt in my mind that's what contributed to his illness.
My question is what could he be sick with specifically? I want to find any home remedies if possible to help my roommates avoid an expensive vet bill.
Thanks!
